Saturday Dec 07, 2024
If you love rock music, history, and exploring iconic locations in Toronto's GTA, this podcast episode is a must-listen. Join me as I sit down with Ryan Mangano, co-owner of the Linsmore Tavern alongside his father, Basil. Established in 1934, this historic venue holds captivating tales and has evolved into the ultimate rock concert hub of East End Toronto. The Linsmore Hotel was established on December 7th, 1934, the same year the Province of Ontario started licensing saloons. The Linsmore Hotel catered to those visitors who needed a room for the night. A ladies and escorts room was accessed through the side entrance on Linsmore Ave. In those days, there were no windows to look into at The Linsmore because the customers didn’t want the neighbourhood knowing who was drinking inside. Trays of 5 cent drafts in 6 ounce glasses were dropped at table after table. Following the pub tradition of the British Isles, the Linsmore was the social hub for its immediate neighbourhood.
Ryan shares the fascinating journey of the Linsmore Tavern from its origins as an old-school tavern to its current status as a celebrated music venue. Discover the vibrant history, the community's love for live music, and the stories of famous musicians who have graced its stage. Whether you're a music enthusiast or history buff, this podcast provides an insightful look at one of Toronto's cherished landmarks. Don't miss out on these incredible stories and experiences that keep the spirit of live music alive in the city.

Wednesday Dec 04, 2024
As you already know, I talk about everything from real estate to podcasting to small business and more on this show.As a result, it has attracted billion dollar brands like Coke, Microsoft, Wayfair, Chrysler and more. This has changed so many things for me and those who are signed up.For my real estate clients, this kind of exposure is beyond anything you will get with a traditional agent. For my podcast sponsors, they are getting exposure to a massive audience that spans the globe. And these are not just average listeners. Podcast listeners are some of the most highly educated and highest earning people on the planet. A new report just released this week discusses this in detail. Signal Hill Insights’ report reveals a significant surge in Canadian podcast listeners, with five million new monthly listeners since 2019. This growth, exceeding the adult population of Norway, is attributed to both population increase and the rising popularity of podcasts. The report highlights the attractive demographic profile of podcast listeners – younger, wealthier, and better-educated – making them a valuable target for advertisers. This expanding listener base creates a positive feedback loop, boosting the viability of podcasting as a business and attracting new creators. The report concludes by emphasising the increased opportunities within the Canadian podcasting industry.
