After hearing from so many of clients here, it was time to launch a new podcast about one of the most popular cities in Canada.

After 24 years of helping so many amazing homeowners in Oakville, its time YOU get your own podcast series.

This is "Selling Oakville". A podcast about the people, places and properties in the Oakville Community. 

Oakville, nestled between Toronto and Hamilton on the shores of Lake Ontario, is not only the largest town in Ontario but also one of Canada's most densely populated areas due to its strategic location and robust economy. With a population that has grown beyond 213,000 as per the 2021 census, Oakville is a vibrant residential hub within the Greater Toronto Area.

The town's history is rich, beginning with its early development through shipbuilding in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, which was sparked by the construction of Dundas Street and land deals with the Mississaugas. The 20th century brought industrialization with oil refineries and manufacturing, notably Ford Motor Company setting up its Canadian headquarters here, leading to significant growth and the eventual amalgamation into the Town of Oakville in 1962. The demographic landscape of Oakville is as diverse as its neighborhoods, from the historic Old Oakville to modern developments like West Oak Trails. The community boasts a significant multicultural population, with over 35.9% being immigrants, primarily from the UK, China, India, and Pakistan.

This diversity is reflected in its linguistic variety, where languages like Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, and Urdu are commonly spoken alongside English. Economically, Oakville thrives with major employers in education, healthcare, and municipal government, alongside corporate giants like Ford and a growing life sciences sector. Culturally, the town is alive with arts at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and Oakville Galleries, and it hosts numerous festivals that celebrate its vibrant community spirit. Recreationally, Oakville offers amenities like the prestigious Glen Abbey Golf Course and supports sports through teams like the Oakville Soccer Club, the Toronto Rock lacrosse team and the Oakville Crusaders rugby club, making it a dynamic place for residents to enjoy a high quality of life.

As a side note, I have a special place in my heart for the Oakville rugby club. Its where I was when playing for the under 19 Ontario team in my youth. Still have lots of great rugby friends and have helped so many of them with their real estate needs over the years.
